Dear Student and Families,

     Good morning, all! We have a chance to wish our Roots of Empathy Baby, (Baby Elizabeth), our wishes for her when she becomes your age, students! What would you wish for her to see, have, be in life, when she becomes 5 or 6 years old!? She would be just finishing Kindergarten, too! Do you think she will be able to go to school and finish Kindergarten in school when she grows up and becomes your age right now!? Do you think she will have a lot of friends? Do you wish she will be healthy…with no chance of having Covid 19!? Do you wish she will learn to ride a bike…without training wheels? Do you wish she will be strong like you? What is your special wish for Baby Elizabeth?

            Families, please email me your child’s wish for Baby Elizabeth (you can print this out, family-your child doesn't have to print this) and I will send them all along to Mrs. Darlene MacDonald, our Roots of Empathy (ROE) coordinator, who will have them sent virtually to Baby Elizabeth’s family! Thank you so much for your help in this! After I receive your child’s wish for the baby, I will also be sending along an email of ROE Completion Certificate for your child to print out and keep! ...perhaps in your Kindergarten Memory Scrapbook!? :)  Thanks!

            Could these wishes please be sent to me by Tuesday, May 26th, 2020?  Thank you! I know it may be quite difficult for some families who continue to work away from home as well as working at home, to find the time to continue Home Learning….however, your child will reap the benefits and feel much better prepared for their next grade! Please continue to read, read, read, students!

            I will ask one more favor from you! Could your child please draw a colored picture and write what they did during this Pandemic/Home Learning which make them feel: excited, happy, scared, nervous, surprised, their favorite part…you choose, student, and then please either snail mail it to me, or perhaps take a picture and send (email, please) that to me!?  I would like this to be mostly sounded out by your child but some help from you to remind them to reread to see what word comes next! Much appreciated!

            Once again, thanks for your continued support, families! :)

Week 7 Home Learning

May 19-22, 2020

Dear Families;

Hi there, everyone! Wasn’t that a beautiful weekend?! I know it could have been a bit warmer…or perhaps a little less wind, but all in all, it was great to see the sun! The birds are singing, the green grass is growing, the buds are popping up everywhere, the waves are crashing…ok, I better stop…you can tell I love Spring and the sounds of Nature, now! LOL!

Thank you all so much for the amazing Home Learning pictures and videos…so many great STEAM, literacy, math and art work going on in your homes…and surrounding areas! I will continue to include them on the ASD-N website…for those of which I have permission.

Along with my regular Home Learning Calendars, etc, I will include in my attachments some awesome links to other Primary teachers in our province who have figured out technology much better than I can…please feel free to browse and use any of their ideas, too! I usually feel a bit overwhelmed when I view these links, so just take your time and choose one or two ideas if you wish!!...just another example of different ideas out there! Some people, like you guys, are so Technologically ‘Talented’ (me…more on the technologically ‘challenged’ side…but I am getting somewhat better, with a bit more time to practice! LOL!)

Stay safe, have fun, be kind…

Yours in Education,

Ms. MacKenzie
