Back-to-School Information

Posted: August 21, 2020

Dear Families:

We hope you are all well and that you had a great summer break!  We are working very hard for your return to school and want to share some important information as we prepare to safely welcome you back.

Please note that school start-up in September will have a staggered entry to ensure that your children will have a safe return and allow staff to review the necessary safety measures in place in accordance with our school’s Operational Plan.  This Operational Plan will outline protocols and guidelines to help reduce the risk of Covid-19 and will be made public prior to students returning in September.  This plan will evolve as necessary throughout the year.

Plan for staggered entry:

Tuesday, Sept.8th

Wednesday, Sept.9th

Only students in grades 1, 3, 5, and 7 will attend.

Only students in Kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 6, and 8 will attend.

The remainder of the week, all students will attend.

It is important to note that students in grades 6-8 will require a community mask as part of their supplies as a mask is mandatory in common areas.  K-5 students do not require a facemask; however, they may choose to do so.

In addition, at this time, students will not have access to microwaves for lunch.  This will be reviewed at a later date.  Drinking fountains will also be off limits but students can access the refillable water stations (a non-leaking water bottle is encouraged).

Helpful tips to prepare your child for back-to-school:

  • Model how to properly put on and take off a mask.
  • Model proper hand washing
  • Encourage and practice coughing or sneezing into your elbow
  • Explain that it is normal that school staff and students may be seen wearing a mask or face shield.
