- Students should start thinking of a creative name for the "Name the observatory contest". Names should be based around the themes of "space", "exploration", "discovery", etc. - The winning submission will become the permanent name of the observatory and will be on display at Miramichi Rural for many years to come!

The observatory has been completed!

Posted: November 8, 2009

The observatory has been installed at Miramichi Rural! Richard Bourque of Candomes Observatories spent the weekend of November 6-8th at Miramichi Rural School installing the observatory. I have begun to order some equipment in hopes that the observatory will be fully functional by late February. Stay tuned!
- Mr. Randy MacDonald came to help dig the foundation and lay the base - Mr. Richard Bourque, of Candomes Observatories ltd., drove from Sackvill, NB on a cool Wednesday morning to ensure the form was properly fitted and concrete base met all the requirements.
- Students at Miramichi Rural using their math skills to find the area and perimeter of the enclosure. The pythagorean Theorem helped to ensure the angles were all at 90 degress.
