Literacy 6/7

These guys were on fire today! They got some new books and were pumped, read for 20 mins, and then got right to work on their descriptives pieces! They were working on editing their papers, and adding in details!

Math 1

Students worked in their centers and worked on counting backwards from 20! We also had a special guest come in: Mrs. Russell showed the students Osmo Coding and Osmo Tangrams!

Social Studies 6/7

We listened to a presentation on Mexico today! Then we worked on our comic book theories, and finished up some totem Poles!

Technology 6/7

We took a Virtutal Tour with The Nature Conservatory: They talked to us about First Nations traditions and the environment. We got to see whales, eagles, salmon and wolves along the way!

Permission forms to attend the legislative buiding in Fredericton must be returned!

**Students were sent home with some memos on the grade 8 businesses. They are selling baked goods and smoothies throughout the week.**
The middle school was also sent home with permission forms to go to the Legislative Building in Fredericton. It must be returned as soon as possible!

Literacy 6/7

Students had time to work on their new routine of jounral entires in the am. We started some good copies of our Pen Pal letters. They also listened to The City of Ember today, while answering questions.

Literacy 8

Pen Pal letters were written up and good copies were starting to trickle in. We talked about 100 yr old skulls, and their favorite movies. We finihsed chapter 7 of The Giver, which left us wanting to know more!

Math 1

We learned about how to sort and what was equal/not equal. They practiced their new games they learned yestreday.

Social Studies 6/7

Students were given a challenge: look through a comic book, and describe what was taking place in the pictures. They had a hard time at first, but quickly caught on to describing the cahracters emotions through the pictures.

Technology 6/7

We finished up out September Newsletter!

Literacy 6/7

As the SmartBoard Slide was set forth, the children fell quiet and all their pencils started scribbling away to write an amazing descriptive piece! Everyone set out to create something epic from a visual today.

Literacy 8

The grade 8 fell slilent as their visual was placed in front of them. They didn't scramble, but took head as their pens & minds came together to create an amazing piece of work!

Math 1

Students created patterns Turkeys, learned a new math game and practiced their math facts!

Social Studies 6/7

Today we talked about our pen pals and started our letters. We also started our cultural presentataions: We learned about Jamaica and Greece today!

Technology 6/7

Students who were done their projects, practiced their typing. Those who needed more time, worked on their Culture Projects!

Literacy 6/7 

It was all about building the stamina today. The kids worked on reading for 20 minutes and had a chance to get caught up on some of their work! They were amazing!

Literacy 8

The grade 8s outdid themselves in the reading department! They managed to go for 25 minutes...wow! We also tried finihsing up our business proposlas and got more informationon their Interest Project

Math 1

We're working hard on number recognition and practicing work in their new work books!

Social Studies 6/7

We read a little more of "Fatty Legs" (novel about Residential Schools) and got to work on building our totem poles!

Tech 6/7

Students had the chance to work on their Culture projects in technology. Learning new ways around PowerPoint and adding in their animations to spice up their projects!

Literacy 6-7

Students were involved in a 20 minute independant read, followed by another great read aloud of The City of Ember. They then worked on answering Chapter 3 questions- working on higher order thinking (adding more of their thoughts to the paragraph).

Literacy 8

We're half way there! Today's Topic of interest: a comic and a news article. Students warmed up to the idea! They were then introduced to a project of interest, and really got excited about creating soemthing that was entirely their own. We discussed how they can make this their own and to bring it to a whole new level!

Social Studies-Technology 6/7

We combinded out efforts! Students are working tirelessly on their cultureal projects! They love the idea of beinf the teacher and presenting their findings. (Attached is what they must complete in their projects!)
