Today in Math class students continued their lessons on dividing decimals and had great success on one of the toughest outcomes on the year! They did so well I was forced to do a terrible version of a cartwheel! Way to go!

Today in Math class the grade 6 students had to leave to write a District English Assessment. The grade 7's began division with decimals.
In Social Studies students began exploring the continent of Africa through a mapping activity.
In technology students are working on presentations about internet safety and proper use of the internet. They should be ready to present late next week.

Today in math class we reviewed long division in preparation for dividing with decimals. In Social Studies we began exploring aspects of East African Culture by looking at some pictures of Mr. Hayward's trips to Rwanda in 2009 and Kenya in 2006.

Today in math both grades worked on multiplying whole numbers by decimals and decimals by decimals. In techonolgy class students began working on their first presentation of the year concerning cyber safety and proper use of the internet.

Today in Math the grade 6's worked on estimating the products and quotients of decimals while the grdae 7's began comparing decimals and fractions.
In Social Studies we looked at how our beliefs, values, politics, and economy shape our culture.

Today in math the grade 7's learned about repeating decimals while the grade 6's worked on place value with decimals.
In Social Studies we continued working on our stories about culture and worked on some geography quetsion using an online program.

Today in Math the grade 6's learned about place value whith decimals while the grade 7's worked on converting fractions to decimals.
In Social Studies we continued our examination of culture by reviewing some parents' reactions to "Body Rituals of the Nacirema". From there we continued writing our own version of the story about something someone from another culture may find strange about ours.

Today students finished resumes to apply for school jobs. We also organized our Math binders and learned a few tips and tricks as to how to best use our math textbooks.

Today students in 6/7 worked on interest surveys which will help me to tailor my lessons toward their individual interests and needs. Students also began preparing resumes to apply for various jobs throughout the school. We have had an excellent start to the 2010-2011 school year!
