Please note that I have added the 6 Weeks Calendar Of Home Learning for Reading, Math and Exploration (I had previously only sent the first week…however, we had word that we could send along more, today). I have also added a Zorbits Math Site for your children to ‘play!’ They will need their own Username and Password which I will give you when I call your home…hopefully today!

Dear Kindergarten Families;

Good morning! It was so awesome to see most of you during our “4 Hour Tour” of the Miramichi Rural School’s surrounding areas! I miss you so much, students and I really wish I had just one day to discuss our quick departure (as Fancy Nancy would say: that’s a fancy word for leave) from school. I know your family has spoken to you about the importance of washing your hands, coughing into your elbow and staying 6 feet away from people, other than those in your household! (Speaking of this, you could watch our favorite online guy…Jack Hartmann, as he has a video about staying 6 feet apart!....any Jack Hartmann video is great for Kindergarten…for all curriculum)! We all need to stay safe and healthy! I want to see you at school sometime soon, again…I miss our Daily Routines, especially those Daily Day Greeters…you know how I loved your hugs!      I guess we would have to choose Elbow Bumps or a Wave, for a little while!

I would like you to know that this way of ‘interacting!?’ is all new to me, too! I am only learning how to use the Teacher Pages, Skyping, Uploading Documents, etc, etc!?! However, I will do my best! The best Home Learning you can do for your child remains to be to read to your child, have them read to you, ask questions, let your child ask you questions and tell about their favorite part of the book and why….increase their vocabulary!    I will include, in the homework tab, or this may just show up on the front page…I’m not certain, yet?!?, a calendar of home learning - just the first week (Literacy/Math/Exploration-all on one page), some Easter Egg Sight Word Hunts (needs plastic eggs?!), and a page of STEAM activities. I have included some sites which is appropriate for Home Learning in Kindergarten and there are plenty more on-line, but we don’t want to overwhelm anyone! I would like to get Splash Learning up and running…but it seems to be acting slow, these days…maybe next week!

Please go outdoors, play and be curious… “Stop and Smell the Roses”, students! There are so many signs of Spring out there! Finding a routine, having patience and taking a break when work is causing anxiousness for students or adults, is most important! I hope you enjoyed your Easter Jib Jab videos I prepared for you! I had a great time making them!! LOL! I will add some more pictures of our time together in Kindergarten, as the days go by! If families need to reach me, please email at: christine.mackenzie@nbed.nb.ca   Let’s keep in touch, families!

Yours in Education,

Christine MacKenzie
