Welcome to our class report! We read part of a very interesting book this morning. It was about Anne Frank. Do you remember who Anne Frank was? What did we learn about her and her family? Our word of the day was a little tricky to spell today but everyone gave a great effort. We did an activity on sentence fragments. We must watch for this in our writing. Our new SMARTboard has been working well! It can do lots of neat things. We have been doing very well with the unit on fractions. Today we learned how to represent fractions using words and symbols. What does the top number in a fraction mean? What does the denominator represent? Tomorrow we will learn how to compare fractions that have the same denominator. In science, we continued to build our geodesic dome out of newspaper.  It’s taking a lot of work but it will be a very interesting structure. Stay safe during this spring storm!

Welcome to our grade 3 class report! It was great to see that everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. By the sounds of it, the Easter bunny was extremely generous to everyone! We had a surprise waiting for us this morning with a lovely note. Do you remember who it was from and what it said? Will brought us all in an Easter treat. Thanks Will! We began our morning with a new word of the day for our spelling challenge. Today’s word was confide. Do you remember what it means? Our doodle was of an elephant. We did an activity on homophones and everyone did really well! After that, we did a ten minute quick write. Some of us read ours aloud. They were wonderful! Everyone chose a station in Daily 5 and some students read with Miss Reid. We finished up Literacy with a quick game of punctuation paintball. In gym, we did Tally Tuesday? Some of us have improved our scores! We had a special surprise during math today, which forced us out of our room to go to the computer lab to work on Mathletics. Do you remember what this surprise was? Everyone was extremely excited! We began a new unit on Fractions today and we explored them on a website called “Math 3 Under the Sea”. See if you can notice any examples of fractions at home. Our day ended with Music class. We learned a really cool way to play music. Have a great night! Don’t eat too much chocolate!

Welcome to our class report. The week is already over! Today was a chocolate filled day. We began our morning watching the news update from the junior reporters. Do you remember what the news update was about? The junior reporters have been doing a great job! We doodled a monster and had a spelling test. This spelling test was from an old list and it was a chance to improve your mark. Then, we went to the library to pick out a new book for our book box. When we got back to the classroom there was a surprise waiting for us! We had to look very hard to find them. After playing punctuation paintball yesterday we did an editing activity where we had to make corrections on a piece of writing. We have to make sure that we watch for these kinds of mistakes in our own writing. After gym, we did a random act of kindness for the entire school. Do you remember what we did? We were supposed to have a guest speaker come into our classroom today but they will be coming in next Tuesday. Don’t forget that there is no school tomorrow, Friday or Monday! Don’t miss me too much! In math, we had a test on our measurement unit. We ended our day with a special Easter treat and we listened to some Robert Munsch books! Have a spectacular extra-long weekend! Hoppy Easter!

Welcome to our grade 3 class report! We started off our day with everyone writing a morning letter. You can listen to some of the students reading their letter on our class webpage. The winners of Mathletics were announced! Do you know who won the challenge? Some students also get to participate in the pizza party because they had such high scores. Are you one of them? We watched a video of the junior reporters covering the Mathletics Marathon that took place last Thursday. Our spelling words for this week are words we have already had but because of the short week, we will use them again as a way to improve our mark! We watched a video about a strange pet. Do you remember what it was? Then, we doodled a cartoon pig! We have been learning new and exciting words for our spelling challenge. Today’s word was bombard. Brody’s definition was much better than Miss Reid’s so we used Brody’s instead. We read a book on homophones and homonyms. Can you remember any examples from the book? In Math, we learned about measuring mass in kilograms and we started a review for the unit on measurement. We are hoping to have a test on Wednesday. To end our day we visited a website that showed us some very unusual structures. Finally, we looked at some optical illusions. Some were very tricky! Have a splendid evening and I will see you tomorrow.
