Good Friday Morning!

Today is going to be a catch-up day of any work that you haven't had a chance to complete. Remember to keep your work and send it back when we go back to school. If you have completed everything you can work on one of the websites or play a board game or card game with a family member or friend. Don't forget to read everyday or have someone read to you. You can also play sight word Bazinga! I will upload the list of sight words in case you have misplaced them, they were sent home in the At-Home Learning due to Covid packet.

Bazinga

Write sight words on pieces of paper and the word Bazinga on one of the pieces. Place the words in a cup or bag. Players take turns picking a word and reading it. If they know the word they get to keep it, if not someone can tell them what it is and it gets put back in the cup or bag. If the word Bazinga is drawn, that player puts all of their words back and it is the next players turn. Play for a set amount of time or until there is only Bazinga left.

Have a great weekend!

Good Morning!

Today is the day that we would be having our Remembrance Day ceremony if we were in school. Since we cannot be together for this I would like to read/recite your two poems to family members.

Don't forget that there will be NO At-Home Learning tomorrow as it is Remembrance Day.

Good Tuesday Morning!

Yesterday was another gorgeous day, it's hard to believe that it is November! I hope everyone had a chance to go outside and get some activity for Phys Ed.

If you have the paper packages at home continue to work on the sheets. Try to do the Number of the Day sheet today. There is an example sheet and a blank one for you to work on. If you do not have the packets print off the attached document or write the nubmer 46 in the following ways:

word form, standard form, expanded form, tallies, base 10 blocks and five ways to make the number (can be ways to add and or subtract to get the number)

Read or listen to a story on tumblebooks or have someone read to you.

Tumblebooks.com  Username - nblib   Password - nbschools

Today I would like you to watch a video on setting and then write down the setting of the story that you read or listened to. Make sure to write down the title and author of the book. The video can be found at BrainPOP Jr.

Username: asdn2021

Password: steam2021

Login and then click on Reading and Writing, Story Elements, and then Setting.

Read over the two poems for Remembrance Day.

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you all had a chance to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather that we had.

I will be adding some assignments on here this week for those who didn't get a chance to pick up the packages at school. If you would still like the paper package it should be in the container outside of the door. I believe they were all put in just in case.

Literacy

Read for 15-20 minutes. If you have picked up the package you can complete one of the reading comprehension sheets. You should read each of the stories at least 3 times for better understanding and fluency.

Writing - write a recount of something that you have done in the past. Try to write 3-4 sentences about the topic. Yoy can work on this writing piece over a couple of days. Write for about 1-20 minutes each day.

SquigglePark/DreamScape - work on the site you have for 10-15 minutes.

Math

Work on DreamBox or SplashLearn for about half an hour.

Have your child practice writing the numbers from 1-100. You can write some numbers and leave some blank spaces for them to fill in.

Practice reading and spelling the number words to 10.

For those who have hte paper package, I am attaching an image of the sheets that I would like for your child to complete today.

Art

This week we would be doing an art project to put up for Remembrance Day. I am attaching a link to a Directed Drawing on YouTube of a poppy for your child to draw and color.

Continue practicing the Remembrance Day poems that I posted on Wednesday.

Read or have someone read to you. You can also listen to a tumblebook at tumblebooks.com. The username is nblib and the password is nbschools.

Work on SquigglePark or DreamScape for 15 minutes.

Math

Play a boardgame or card game with a family member or a friend.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and gets outside to enjoy the nice weather that we've been having.

Good Morning!

Today I am sending along a couple of poems for you to practice in hopes of getting to do something at school next week for Remembrance Day.

Literacy

Continue to work on SquigglePark or DreamScape. DreamScape is for those who have finished SquigglePark.

Read over the Remembrance Day poems or have someone read them to you and you repeat them. I am hoping that these will be memorized by Monday.

Write a retell story about something that you have been doind since you've been home. Make sure to use capital letters, periods and correct spacing.

Math

Work on some of the assigned lessons in SplashLearn.

Continue to practice counting forward and backward by 2s between 0 and 50.

I am aware that some students are having difficulty logging into the websites due to slow internet. I ask these students to do the other activities and to also use the package that I sent home earlier in the year in case we were closed due to Covid. There are some non-technology activities included in the package. If the strike continues into next week I will have a paper package ready for you to work on.

If you have any questions or need assistance with an activity please email me. Shawna.Goguen@nbed.nb.ca

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you had a good time Trick-or-Treating last night. Enjoy eating your treats and hopefully you'll share some with your parents. Did you sort your candy last night to find out what you got the most of?

I sent home a packet back in September in case we were closed down due to Covid, your child can work on some of those activities. In there you will find the username and login for Squiggle Park, Dreambox and SplashLearn.

Literacy

Reading

You should have your books home from last week. Read those today and then tell someone what the story was about. What is the setting and the problem? How was the problem solved? If there was no problem in the story, have a grown up read you a book and then tell them what the problem was.

Work on Squiggle Park for at least 20 minutes. For those of you who have finished Squiggle Park I have set you up with DreamScape and have emailed your parents your username and password.

Writing

Write a retell about Halloween. What did you dress up as? Describe your costume. Where did you go? Who did you go with? What was your favorite treat?

Hii everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and spent some time outdoors while it was nice out.  We worked on our raised garden and building our new gazebo.  Can you believe that we are already more than halfway through May?

This week you can continue working on the reading and math websites and I am adding few new things you can do.  I have signed up for BrainPop Jr, we have this until June 15th.  This is a great website to teach many different topics from all subjects.  Grade 2 take a look under Math, Addition and Subtraction and watch the videos on adding and subtracting with and without regrouping. Both grades should watch the video on Making Ten and basic adding and basic subtraction.  Feel free to watch any of the videos that you wish.  The website is jr.brainpop.com and login.  The username is Sharks12 and the password is looking1 .

I am also adding a some ideas that will cover the three different outcomes for literacy and a fun activity for math.

Enjoy your week and don't forget to send me pictures of your at home learning.

Mrs. Goguen

Can you believe that it snowed on May 9th?! Who would have thought that we would see snow in May.  Crazy weather to go witht the crazy times I guess.  This week I would like you to continue working on SplashLearn and Kids A-Z.  I am adding a couple of links to videos that you can watch.  To choose a video click on the picture.  There are many to choose from so watch the ones that you want to.  I am also adding a file with some Literacy activities that you can do as well.  These activities cover all the different types of curriculum outcomes for Literacy. Also, don't forget to send me some pictures so I can put them here on my teacher page so your friends can see you. Email me at shawna.goguen@nbed.nb.ca . Hope to hear from you soon!

Enjoy your week and hopefully we don't see anymore snow.

I would like everyone to continue working on Kids A-Z, SplashLearn, sight words and addition and subtraction facts.  I would love to see pictures of what everyone has been doing during your time at home.  Don't forget to write me a story about what you have been doing and have someone email it to me at Shawna.Goguen@nbed.nb.ca . Mother's Day is this coming Sunday, May 10th.  Make a card for your mother or grandmother.  Write her a note inside.  Don't forget to use capital letters and end punctuation.

I'll be calling again this week so if you get an unknown caller it could be me.  There are still a few students who I haven't been able to talk to yet and I would love to hear all about what you are doing.

Stay safe everyone!

Mrs. Goguen

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a chance to enjoy some of the nice weather on the weekend. My family spent a lot of time outside on the weekend doing some yard work, making raised gardens, putting up the trampoline and just being outside. This week I would like you to write about something that you have been doing to keep busy.  Maybe it's baking, playing games, reading, watching some of your favorite shows, etc. When you have finished you can have your parents take a picture and email it to me at Shawna.Goguen@nbed.nb.ca and I can upload here to my teacher page. Feel free to also send me pictures of things you have been doing to keep busy, I'd love to see them.  I miss seeing everyone.

This weeks work will be to continue to work on SplashLearn for math and Kids A-Z for reading. You can also make flashcards for addition and subtraction as well as continue to play the addition and subtraction games that I posted in week one. Don't forget to go over your sight words.

Check out the STEAM tab for some learning activities that you can do as a family. There are activities for grades K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.

Have a great week everyone!

Mrs. Goguen
